Arly,
Such fine work getting them to remove "the offending phrase", it's in their
best interest anyway not to have something there which is at odds, at least in
theory, with current feeding guidelines. Their statement ( and this is an
ongoing problem with much breastfeeding information out there,) tried to mix
health information with "permission" to go against said current best information
when it becomes " more acceptable"., say at 6 months. The "4-6 months" variable
was studied extensively by WHO/UNICEF, and the Global Strategy for Infant
and Young Child Feeding ( which pertains even to us Americans! :)) states
clearly that the recommendation is not 4-6, but 6. You might get them to revisit
that issue by pointing out that many artificially fed infants do start solids by
4 months ( since formula was never the "perfect" food in the first place) but
breastfed infants have nothing to be gained by starting solids early, and
there is potential for loss for a formerly exclusively breastfed infant. Since
they are "doing so well" updating their information on the one point, they will
of course want to update the information that goes along with it...:)

Thanks for all you are doing!
