Hi All

I am asking for help with a mother who has breast implants.

Her Story so far.

31/8/04 NVD 3500gm Female after an 18 hour labour.

Baby went to the breast and up to day 7 fed well, gained birth weight. Mother had lots of colostrum. second week developed mastitis, being treated with antibotics ( 6 tablets left to take 18Sept.) has been given ++++ wrong advice. dont feed, leave baby to sleep, baby weighed and has lost 200gms advised to supplement. not using hospital grade pump correctly. giving formula in bottle 100 mls per feed. While I watched this baby feeding I couldnt help notice that she had a continual frown while feeding?

 18th September
Today we started a new brestfeeding plan
Start Domperidone
Offer baby the breast, then pump after each feed, use supplementer at the breast with EBm, and then make up the difference with formula. until milk supply is established. The difficulty we had today was the baby got tired and wasnt interested in latching to the breast so we did finger feeding. ( instead of the bottle)

My questions are
Is there anyone on the lisit who specialies caring for women with breast implants, I would be most grateful for advice and input for this women.
Another red area has appeared on the inner aspect of her left breast ? Could this be mastitis even though she is already on antibotics, and is pumping 8- 12 times in 24 hours .are women with breast implants more risk of continuing bouts of mastitis ? because of what reason ? pressure behind the implant maybe
Her surgery was 1 year ago.

Sincerely

June Nicholls
