I attended a session onliability at a WIC conference last October,  headed by
a NY Lawyer, who said that as far as she could see, in the state of NY at
least, since this is not a recognized (sorry folks) profession (not licensed
or registered at any rate) we probably don't need  professional malpractice.

People might worry about other things, what if a client trips in your office
or something of that nature. You might be sued for battery for something you
did during the consult (for touching the mother or baby in what is then
perceived in a harmful way). She also said that we should check with our own
attorneys.
Something to ponder.
