hi,

Our family coslept until each child left on there own. They were all between
7-9 years old. The interesting part is that they don't really remember the
family bed. We solved the crowding problem by attaching a twin bed to our
queen and then had a three sided crib on the other end. ( we have a big
bedroom).
The biggest advantage for me was I got to sleep. The only time Dad didn't
like it was if he got pee'd on!! Intimacy was never a problem (They do not
remember that either!) Our three children, now are in Hs and college, are
very secure and loving. (I hear "what a nice kid you have" a lot :-).

I have been very upset by the headlines warning parents not to sleep with
their children. Dr Laura was talking about it this morning on her radio show.
She misquoted the research saying 562 children died in a year and said how
she or her husband would stay awake every hour and a half while there son
nursed and then put him back in his crib. As a childbirth educator and
lactation consultant I will continue to tell parents about all the advantages
of cosleeping and use the headline to talk about safe sleeping arrangements.

Jane in southern N.H.
