Rachel says: I've had trouble with this reference myself. If a cup is 8
ounces then at 30ml/ounce ... 1 cup is 240cc and 2 cups is 480cc. So is the
stomach capacity 900ml or 2 cups?

Imagine being really hungry with your tummy really empty -- 8:00 am, for
example. Now imagine trying to drink nearly a liter of fluid. I think long
before you finished you would be sick. True -- you could spread that out over
the 16 hours you are awake, but all at one time -- or even at one meal? I
don't think so. Stomach capacity of an adult is much closer to 500 ml. But
also remember there is physiologic capacity and anatomic capacity. I'd be
willing to wager most of us can tuck away the equivalent of 4 cups at Thanksgiving
dinner. So, when do we FEEL full, comfortably, and when are we stuffed?
