I have to agree with Kathy D on the #1 reason
that we have a hard time "selling" breastfeeding.

I teach a group of nursing students each semester.  The students are
becoming more cynical of research.  Too bad they're not becoming more
cynical about formula too.

I've also really been thinking about the turn around in smoking over the
past few decades.  Health care providers clearly went from saying
nothing or subtly saying it was fine to adamantly ytelling people to
quit or never start.
