The whole subject of test weighing makes me uneasy. I enjoyed the
suggestion made by Denise (May 6) that it was encouraged in order
to boost sale of scales. I never thought of that. In Israel,
sales is not an issue (yet, but probably will be in future)
because merchandisers are still very few here. I guess I'm
bothered by the pressures it puts on mom to perform. Fail and
there goes the self-confidence. Any research on this aspect? I
tell moms to ignore nurses who are gung-ho test weighing to
"prove" that their darlings are wasting away at the breast.
