Thanks Susan Berger for your excellent post reminding us not to generalize.
I struggle every day getting college students to understand that the world
is a big wide place with thousands of different cultures.  They too often
want to divide the world into "us" (mean US) and "Those people over there in
those cultures . . . "

Africa and New Guinea each have more than 800 separate and distinct
cultures.  And just like in the US, even the people who belong to "one"
culture don't all agree about everything.
