Hi Lactnetters,
I have searched all my material and both old and new archives. When a
baby sucks in her lower lip everything and everybody says gently pull it
out. What happens if you break the suction evry time you try to do that?
Baby is two weeks old, two ounces over birth weight. Up several ounces
from lowest weight.
Moms nipples cracked and very sore. We worked alot on postioning. It is
still hard to get baby to open real wide. She is eager and quick to latch
on to anything that comes near her mouth, so tickling the lip with the
breast is not working real well. We have been encouraging a wide open
mouth by saying open and showing her and waiting until it is really wide
and quickly pulling her on. Once she is latched that lower lip sort of
sneaks in. When we try to pull it out, we lose the latch and have to
start over. Mom is getting frustrated. Any ideas
Thanks
