I have found that warm saline soaks several times a day has resolved
cracked nipples that did not respond to other treatments.  Mom creates a
standard saline solution--1/4 tsp salt in 1 cup very warm water. She soaks
her nipples when the water is comfortably warm--soaking until the water cools.

It is not an instant healing but a steady one.
