And one might ask how those women perceived 'us' when told it was normal
for the mothers to be _expected_ to leave their children. And how
abnormal it was for 'us' to consider it strange to not want to leave
your children! The classic pseudo-feminist trap - empower women by
separating them from their children.

The forest of course, would have been highly dangerous for a single
woman. I can't imagine any aid package for women in the UK, requiring a
woman to go off into a forest on her own, for several hours. And that's
in a culture with mobile phones and a huge police force.

I can just imagine the fuss if, as a teacher, I devised a lesson plan
that required a single female to go into a forest on her own for a
couple of days a week.
