I did catch part of this report, and was mostly satisfied with the information given.

BUT, two things bother me.

1) I know the study has factored for age, education and economic status of parents. But it still has not factored for all the different constituents in breastmilk that we still don't know about; also, it has not factored for the kind of relationship most breastfed babies have with their parents and the world, compared to the kind of relationships most bottlefed babies have.

2) Several times the subject of guilt came up, and each time was soothed
over saying that women who have all the information and then decide not to
BF shouldn't feel guilty. I don't agree. Except for very rare cases, I think
all women should be encouraged to start breastfeeding. If it doesn't work
for them, and they can't or don't want to put in the days/weeks/months to
make it work, and then decide not to BF, it is a totally different situation
than just deciding not to BF for "personal" considerations.

Sincerely, Chanita, San Francisco
