I am aware that what I am about to say may lead most of 1200 friends to jump on me -- please do so privately, don't clutter up the 'net. (I'll even publish the number of boo/hisses, if anyone really cares.)
We disapprove of the feeding of formula, and encourage moms to give the real thing. But just 'cause it's in a bottle don't mean it ain't real. Not everyone feels the need to use a cup or syringe to get her milk into her baby. When a mom isn't available to nurse, or feels shy about nursing in public places, or just wants to give herself a break, and she is pumping milk for her baby, the most common feeding utensil is still a bottle.
Remember, we are out here promoting the use of breastmilk as the best nourishment. Breastmilk directly from mom is first bestmilk; and second best is mom's milk in another container.
Sincerely, Chanita, San Francisco
