I deleted the digest too quickly, but there was someone wondering
about pressure/rubbing on baby's palm to help mouth opening.
There is a 'primitive' reflex which will cause a rooting effect when
the palm is rubbed. I forget the correct name for it.
I don't think it actually causes a gape, just a rooting type of
movement.

I have tried it with some infants with limited effect.
