Dear Kathleen,
With my youngest, who is a year this week, I used to many times notice my
bed was wet when I nursed laying down. I always thought this was strange
because I do not leak milk. One time I looked down and saw that when she
nursed she had a steady drip coming from her nose of white milk and this
was making the sheets wet. It happened when she was not gulping, and not
only at beginging of feed. She always continued to nurse calmly through
this. I do not have an overactive MER. I thought it was so strange. Her
palate is all normal, etc. Of course, we ignored it, because she was
gaining fine, and it surely was not bothering her!. I never did know why
it happened. I actually did notice it a few times sitting up also, but not
as much.
Best Wishes,
Jessica Billowitz, IBCLC
