I know little of the pharmacological facts of Ritalin, but Concerta is made
by the company my husband works for, Alza. This company specializes not in
the drugs, but in the new way it delivers it - which, in this case (if you
believe the company's marketing) means that there are no large peaks and
drops in the level of Ritalin in the patient's blood.

They use an osmotic pump system that delivers a small amount of drug
consistently throughout the day.

The goal was to help parents avoid the problems related to giving a child a
dose mid-day, as many schools no longer have nurses on staff and teachers
and administrators often refuse to be responsible for providing or giving
medication to students.

How this translates into levels in the milk or how it or its metabolites
affect the baby is something for a pharmacist and researcher to interpret -
not me!
