Marsha,
I would love to be a part of a study to create change within the system.  I
believe it will require the force of lactation as a unified group to hasten
this "evolutionary" shift. Though my coping mechanism is like someone else
said, focusing on the evidence-based outcomes of each of my clients....many,
many moms who are actually breastfeeding at 6 months, 9 months, ........of
age, I do not believe I can impact my community as effectively as a unified
group effort could do.  Perhaps we need a task force developed to work on
this impact...or, excuse my ignorance if there's already one in place.  If
there is, let me know...I'd be interested in participating.  I, as an
individual cannot sit and watch it happen...I have to do something about it.
But, this effort needs to be led and structured properly...meaning, not the
"girls" way.  It needs to be structured like a business and like a
"man"...you get my drift!  This is where my talent is not!  I get soooo
frustrated because I cannot even see what these folks see, and I really do
try to see at their level, honesty!
