If anyone knows what the possible causes of mucous or blood in the
stool of a breastfeeding 9 week old baby could be I would appreciate
your input. I did suggest that the mother stop all dairy products
meanwhile. The pediatrician said that it might be lactose
intolerance. The baby seems healthy and happy. Ideas and
treatments would be appreciated.

As a LLL leader I always preferred the word "nursing" to
breastfeeding. I know that the British, and others, don't use the
word nursing as we do in the US. I have always felt that nursing
implies a type of mothering not just a method of infant feeding.
Breast feeding seems to be a parallel to bottle feeding rather
ththan a process with other virtues and values.
