I too feel just as bad when I see a bottle in a baby's mouth as I do when I
see a mother slap or even yelling obsenities at her child. I was reminded
recently about being to judgemental. A co-worker recently told me her story
about failing with bf with her 3 children. Ea time she started out well only
to end up with a baby not gaining etc around 3 wks, she did the SNS, pumping,
etc. Very frustrated and feels like a failure as a mom. Her husband had a
vasectomy, but she thinks about a reversal as a chance of "trying one more
time to do it right". This is a very intelligent mom, RN, natural
childbirth advocate, and a great nurse to post-partum moms. I don't know
more details of her problems as I was out having my own babies and not their
to help. But I feel my fellow LC's did their jobs well. She doesn't need
more guilt and some of the "that's a shame" comments would not be
appropriate. I openly tell people what I do. If they have questions or
comments then I say more. Shame to me is something "bad" done to someone.
I agree moms should feel quilt if they do not try. But I am not the one to
point that out.
