hello everyone.......
i have been working with a client through the WIC program(a supplemental
nutrition program for Women, Infant and Children) who gave birth approximately
3 months ago to twin girls. One baby never breastfed(although nursed well a
few times while I was present, and with use of a nipple shield) so mom pumped
and gave her breastmilk. She gradually weaned this baby to formula; her other
baby refused formula.....then would take breastmilk from a bottle, and now
will not take a bottle at all. The mom is anxious to wean, partly because she
feels bad that one is nursing, and the other is not. I have discussed
increasing her milk, trying to get the other baby nursing, tips for giving a
bottle, cups, etc. etc. Honestly, I'm not sure about how to counsel her
anymore......has anyone had a client in a similiar situation?? I loaned out
my twins books awhile back........and haven't replaced..........so if this
issue(guilt over nursing one only) is discussed could someone fill me in???
