When I worked in L & D many moons ago, I "accidently" delivered a baby who
wouldn't wait for the doc. Mom spoke a different language and wouldn't
answer me when I asked if she were pushing. I just walked into her room to
Put her on the monitor. Next thing I knew, I lifted up the blanket to see what
was going on and out came the baby, still in its bag of water, which I had to
break, very interesting... The membranes are tough..When things settled
down and we could ask her name and age, via an interpreter, she was around
52 or 53..Apparently no one really kept track in her little village where she was
born somewhere in Vietnam..She had a beautiful healthy baby girl. YOu know
the saying, "if the baby is born in the bag of waters, she is meant to be a
midwife." I guess I'll never know. The baby was at the breast as soon as she
could manage it. I do believe this was baby number 9 or 10. She came in by
ambulance so she didn't have family with her to help me with asking
questions. (never say never) ya just don't know. My own mom was 45 when
I was born. However in that era you didn't nurse of course. Dr Spock was
the baby bible. GGRRRRHH.

my 2 cent story,
robin
