I too have been following a mother with Kallman's syndrome. I've done an
extensive lit search and come up with nothing regarding breastfeeding. She
too was told her condition should not interfere with her ability to bf -
however, reading about the condition, which includes a variety of hormonal
abnormalites - I don't think it inconceivable that it may influence
lactation. The mother I have been seeing has a similar history re. fertility
problems. She was diagnosed with Kallman's in her late teens - experienced
very little breast changes in her teens, during her pregnancy and following
delivery. She delivered triplets at 28 weeks and despite frequent pumping
has obtained at the most 10 ml. per pumping. STS holding was initiated ASA
infant's were stable on NCPAP in the NICU - no change in milk volume as a
result. Your mother's volume sounds much higher than this mom - however
given the difference in stimulation (infant suckling vs. mechanical pump)
not to mention STRESS LEVELS!!! - this may be a factor. Wish I could offer
more - interesting to hear from someone with similar diagnosis.
