Laura,

Your post about my description of Reverse Pressure Softening used the
word "new" so I hasten to add that it is not original with me. It's just
that I personally have not heard anyone else referring to it. I feel it
is a very effective intervention that needs to be more widely
publicized, especially among hospital staff, and those caring for moms in
the first 10-14 days at home.

Various e-mail responders have alluded to having seen it in something by
Chloe Fisher and also mentioned in Chele Marmet's course. If anyone can
provide me with actual reference citations, I would appreciate it, as I
think it needs to be more widely tried and written about.

I actually had to make up a name for it, as the first one I chose in
early attempts to see if I could get it published got an immediate and
very negative reaction from the editorial staff. (I had called it
"Modified Hoffman Technique", for that is exactly what it is, a
modification of the Hoffman technique using only the first half of it.)

I went back and read the original article, which makes absolutely no
reference to some of the claims since "disproven through research" about
it. But I guess that term comes with too much baggage, so I had to come
up with a more descriptive term.

Jean
