IN order not to sound too patronizing, and all-knowing, I use a
different method....Once we thought, now we know.
I start with things that have changed drastically in medicine in recent
years, such as " Once we thought fat children were healthy children, now
we know...." Throw in some humour...there were lots of things that they
used to believe in medicine, that sound ridiculous now. I bet many of
you could think of some....
Think of a few of those, then move into breastfeeding.over the years,
much research has been done in child health, especially breastfeeding
and we have also changed our way of thinking: " Once we thought that
babies could grow up just as well on artificial milk as on human
milk...today we know ( and you quote all the statistics on child
health)"
Once we thought that a baby gets all the milk he needs in the first 10
minutes, and now we know....( bombard them with info on milk transfer,
Mike woolridge, Hartmann, etc)
This way, you are not telling them collectively that they are stupid and
know nothing, but rather, each one thinks to himself " I am giving
outdated, incorrect information...I better sit up and pay attention"
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
