My clinical experience certainly agrees with yours. I have a couple of
calls a month from mothers whose milk supplies plummeted 1-2 weeks after
beginning the mini pill. Some of the mothers are 4-5 months post partum and
some are closer to their delivery times. They are able to restore their
supplies upon ceasing the med and using galactagogues to increase their
milk supplies. It usually takes 1-3 weeks for a full return, depending on
how long they took the pill. One mother had to take domperidone for a few
weeks to rebuild her supply.

I know that there are women whose supplies are not affected, and Natalie's
suspicion that the dosage per size of mother or a given mother's hormonal
sensitivity could certainly be factors in the variable effects.

There does need to be updated information for the MDs about the potential
reduction in supply. All of my clients who call me in a panic have been
assured that there is no negative effect with the mini pill.
