Laura,

There is a lot going with this baby - mom will need lots of support that
she is doing a great job.

I would suggest a complete workup from ped as a few things really stick
out. The flat head and delayed milestones remind me a cousin who was later
(very later - as in teens) dx with autism. His babyhood was a bit like
that - very little he could tolerate with visits (in or out of his house -
my daughter would hide in the car from him) which never really let up as he
grew.

The feeding issues also remind me of a group mom we had many, many years
ago. Baby had big feeding issues that were finally resolved (after a few
months) and weight gain and nursing became stable. Baby did seem
hypermobile and at 1 year well baby check some blood work came back a bit
wonky (for lack of a better description) and was discovered child had down
syndrome, but mildly affected which is why it took a year to discover.
Some down children are hypermobile.

Or it could just be a bad case of torticollis also pinching nerves and
causing the fussiness in a child who may make a great gymnast (being a
flexible person myself also and passing it to my children). The one side
stronger or using more could be part of that (pinched nerves, my back can
make me not use my left leg much). It just reminded me of the other
children who didn't seem right, but not really something to pinpoint. Plus
for a real panic mode I remember reading a story of a mom who baby was
behind on milestones, people would laugh when she demo'd his crawl
(commando crawl using only left arm & leg), ped not concerned until over a
year of age - baby later discovered to have had an interuterine stroke with
severe right side weakness. While I doubt this is even close - it does
speak to really look at big differences between left and right side, even
in an infant.

Okay enough of panicking for today and hopefully being pushy with ped with
get more OT or PT referrals.
