A friend and I started an e-conversation the other day
about workplace breastfeeding, and a question came
up about how women did it in WWII. Women were strongly
encouraged to work to support the war effort. They also
had kids and while formula consumption was on the increase,
there were still a lot of women nursing. How did they
do it then?
I seem to recall reading something about there being
a lot of on-site child care during the war to accomodate
the female work force. They were, of course, dismantled
after the war, when the women were sent home, so the men
could work. I don't know about bfing in these day care
centers, but I imagine that was part of the arrangements

Does anyone know more about this? Some references  perhaps.
