What a journey for this mother, with a discouraging outcome so far.  Hopefully that can be changed around.  Some babies learn to use feeding tubes as straws.  If she places the tube differently on the breast, perhaps further away from the nipple, that may make it harder to use as such.  Has she tried having the LactAid set up but "off"?  Bring baby to full breasts and perform breast compressions while nursing.  If swallowing slows earlier than anticipated, turn LactAid "on".
