I got a call yesterday from a mother who has weaned her 18 mo old daughter
cold turkey a week or so. She has had several bouts of mastitis. She now has
a large painful lump. She doesn't think it's a mastitis. I suggested cabbage
leaves, some ibruprophen and call her Dr. if it doesn't get better or if she
has any symptoms of mastitis. What else? I thought I might call her and
suggest pumping or start nursing and wean more slowly. (I didn't suggest the
cold turkey approach to weaning)
