I just wanted to ask why is it that pharmacists are so adamant about almost
any medication being not compatible with nursing? Is it the liability issues?
Or formula is seen as a familiar pharmacological compound mindset?

~~ In my experience most pharmacists, unless they have self-educated, are
simply ignorant about the critical nature of the breastfeeding relationship.
Also, if they use the PDR, the physician's desk reference, even drugs like
acetaminophen say to ask the MD, or not use things that would appear as proven
very low or no risk in the Hale or other real texts. PDR is basically company
literature from drug companies who are concerned about covering their butts.
It is not really useful in helping a mom decide whether any risks of taking
the meds while continuing to nurse are higher than the risks of not
breastfeeding. PDR does not look at the issue this way at all.
