Mr. Weston,

I have written to our rep Debbie and have called Medela, Inc. to ask for a box
of the old kits. I plan to return the Advance Kits when we recieve the new
ones. Meanwhile the moms are being instructed to use only "med" or "high" in
the Lactina and only "Normal" in the Classic.

I have a gauge, which, although not recently calibrated, works well to compare
one suction to another. My assistant is breastfeeding and often pumps, so when
I was trying to compare with double suction, she used one side on her breast and
we used the gauge on the other.

Our findings were:

The old kits on my gauge reached 1,050, 1500 and 1900 when used on the Lactina
with low, med and high (double pumping). On the classic with min it was 1500
and on "normal" was at 2000.

The advance kits, using the "classic" on "minimal"and double pumping - the
gauge never registered ANY suction (therefore below 1000)

The Advance kits using the "classic" on "normal" never reached what the old
kits reached when at "medium" (1500) on the Lactina.

The Advance kits on the Lactina on "min" were below 1,000 on my gauge and the
"high" was at 1,500.

There seems to be a leak at the juncture of the tubing with the base, at least I
heard a lot of noise there. The tubing comes out very easily, which is probably
and indication there isn't a tight enough fit.

Please assure us that the old kits will continue to be available until the new
ones are fixed.

Sincerely,
