Great to meet you here as well!

In The Netherlands we have and use the Syntocinon (Pitocin) nasal spray in
appropriate cases.
It is nothing more or less than artificial oxytocin, the stuff ( in IV
form) is also used in induced labors.
My only problem is that it is sometimes used too easily/ quickly. I think
that 'breastfeeding management problems' should be ruled out first before
using the nasal spray.

The intranasal sprays contain 40IU/ml with a recommended typical dose being
one spray ( three drops) in each nostril to induce letdown. According to
Hale it is secreted in small amounts in breastmilk, with no untowards
effects noted. HOwever, chronic use of intranasal oxytocin may lead to
dependence and should be limited to the first week postpartum.
