I have 3 children who are all tongue-tied - definite heart-shaped, no 'tip'
and had NO problems breastfeeding.  Many years ago I mentioned this on
Lactnet and Dr Palmer responded with the long-term problems my children
would face with the abnormal stressors this places on the bottom jaw.  All
three have needed orthodontics.  The oldest (21 years) has quite crooked
bottom teeth again; the middle and youngest both have the braces off but a
fixed retainer on their bottom teeth.  The middle one (18yrs) is about to
have his wisdom teeth out and we will request a clipping of his tongue tie
at this time, and before the fixed retainer is removed, and hopefully the
youngest will also elect to have this done.

PS:  I don't think my middle son is getting his tongue tie clipped to stop
his teeth going crooked though .... there could be other reasons. :)
