I've been feeling awful over this since before it happened. (I volunteered
my one-page synopsis from a conversation with a local court. It mainly deals
with custody in cases where the parents are not married. I know there is
very little support for the intense mother-baby bond we are advocating when
it comes to the judicial system.) (And think of how overburdened and burnt
out THOSE guys are - when I've been on jury duty I've been disturbed for
weeks afterward. I know someone who had PTS symptoms after serving on a
murder trial.)

We should not only pray for the mom and baby = we should pray for the dad
too. Two weeks with that child may be absolutely horrifying. Or it may bring
clarity and charity for all of them. Who knows - if things are not going
well and he is able to look inside his heart, maybe he'll decide that two
weeks with a baby who hardly knows him, was not a good idea. Maybe he will
actually talk to the mom about what is best for this little person made from
their love for each other. Maybe there will be growth.

If you don't pray, at least send good energy their way.

Dawn Kersula in Vermont (who will send this one up as an unspoken heart
request as I worship today)
