I have a pediatrician who recommended to a mom of a 6 mo. baby who isn't
gaining weight fast enough to give 4 8 oz bottles of whole milk as
supplement and wean off nursing. ARGGGh! Has anyone every heard of this. I
suggested a second opinion, but the dr. works alone and she likes him.
I told her AAP doesn't recommend whole milk so early, gave her suggestions
on increasing milk supply and offered to see her. I referred to Jack
Newman's web page, and even contacting Dr. Newman.

It's been a tough week in my lactation world, several cases of sore
nipples, yeast infections (conflict with an ob, and one supportive ob in
the group who followed my recommendations.)

So, it is a little discouraging this week but there were some successes
too.

If anyone has advice on the above case, I would be happy to hear from you
either on the group or privately.

On the horizon, looking forward to the birth of my first grandchild in
Dec. My daughter was asked by someone at her baby shower last weekend if
she is going to breastfeed, and she laughingly said to the person as she
looked at me, "How else would I feed my baby?"

Warm regards,

Rainy and cold and the leaves are really falling today!
