The new WHO growth standards include BMI charts for age, from birth to 2
years; 2 years to five years adn birth to five years:

http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/bmi_for_age/en/index.html

Also z-score charts for same age ranges.

I believe this was always part of the intention, and that these are
considered more accurate in identifying growth problems earlier. I
understand that the training material is due to be disseminated in November:
perhaps this will be useful in covering the advantages of each type of
measurement in clinical practice (I have no prior notice what this material
will cover -- I consider it the crux of the whole enterprise, since I think
the chart alone is only a part of the way weight undermines breastfeeding,
with a lot of other issues to tackle.)

Interestingly enough the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health here
in the UK has actually convened a group to consdier whether to use the WHO
charts -- something which really surprised and pleased -- me, since in the
UK we have a wretched record of taking any notice of international WHO type
insturments for infant health. Usually we have get 'well we have this HOME
GROWN one which will do instead, and it is BRITISH, so obviously better'.
