This is my first post, although I've been following along with the
wonderfully intelligent, thoughtful and educational conversation for a
few months.

Does anyone work in a city/town with a relatively large Deaf population?
Being hearing impaired myself, I am interested in learning American Sign
Language (ASL) and would like to hear about experiences anyone has had
helping Deaf women. I am also interested in any experiences with people
of other physical disabilities. Since the recent topic discussed people
who take virtually no responsibility for their health and dismiss their
inability to breastfeed as "the LCs fault", I wonder what the initiation
rate is with people who overcome adversities in their daily lives?
Anyone with experiences to share?

I am trying to decide between the MA through Pacific Oaks or through the
Union Institute and University at Vermont College (and anyone with an
opinion is free to share it, either on- or off-list) and I want to focus
on the Deaf community as well as others with disabilities. I'm curious
as to whether anyone thinks there is a need for this.
