We are not Baby Friendly but when we educate about services available in our
hospital we also give the 1-800-Tell You # for Medela. This way any LC's or
retail/rental stores in the area will get a referral if a Mom wants a home
visit (we don't do home visits) or if we are out of pump rentals, etc. One
of our LCs has her own home business. If a patient calls and wants a home
visit we do NOT refer to her. But we give the 1-800-Tell #. She cannot
promote her own business while she is at the hospital working. So far we
have had no problems. She has not been doing this for long, just since the
beginning of the year.
