Well, I came back into town, after 4 days in the Keys, and lo and behold
mommy is nursing! The baby is a champ! I had tried on Thursday ,
again,(before leaving) talking to the Neo, he wasn't available when I
was, etc. I spoke again to one of the ARNPs and to the baby's nurse. I
heard that later that day mom was told every other feed would be
breastmilk (oh wow! snip) and she could actually breastfeed (after
nearly 8 weeks of being in the NICU).

The big problem now is a very endangered milk supply! All that milk she
threw away, she is crying over (as I had told her not to do). She is
only pumping 5-15cc from each breast, when she was getting ounces two
weeks ago. But, she had pretty much given up on the Drs. and ARNPs ever
allowing the baby to have her breastmilk, so she was slowly doing away
with pumping. She is pumping and nursing religiously, but hardly any
EBM available. I hope her husband was able to get the Fenugreek and
Blessed Thistle. We will try to convince the nurses tomorrow to
supplement at the breast in order to get rid of the bottles!! They
have to be willing to learn and support this mom.....depends on who is
working tomorrow.

Nearly 8 weeks of ABM, doesn't make sense!

Extremely frustrated in soggy South Florida!
