But HMBNA is NOT creating an engineered product (like the fortifier) that is for these hi-risk special babies.  That product is very expensive to produce. And by the way, there is NO SUCH THING as a non-profit organization.  If there is no money put into the system via donations, sales, or taxes (that come from someone else making a profit somewhere)the organization ceases to exist. Period.  Someone somewhere has to pay for food, clothing, homes, healthcare.  Breastfeeding is NOT free.  The mother uses her body's resources to provide the food.  And someone provides her food.  Venture capitalists are looking to make a profit, true.  But without them, there wouldn't have been the several million dollar investment to buy the equipment, the buildings, the infrastructure required.

May I add that Milk Banks that are members of non-profit entity, The Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA), have been doing that for years at a fraction of the cost.
