A day or two ago (it is now Halloween, October 31), I asked all physicians
currently subscribed to LACTNET to contact me privately re: their
willingness to accept questions particular to their expertise. To date, I
have heard from 9 such individuals (most of whom are family physicians!)
from a variety of geographic settings.

My aim was to be able to refer people when the question requires it. As
KBruce noted in her previous post, LACTNET is NOT for mothers to ask
questions about themselves or their own situation. A posting here is for
professional to professional.

However, there are times when a referral to a physician would be
appropriate. In most cases, a physician would consider it prudent to see
that mother rather than to attempt to assist in answering a question by
email, just as that same physician would not answer such a question over
the phone (or LCs either!).

Therefore, if any of you has a question that DEMANDS a physician answer,
please get in touch with KB or KGA to request a referral to a physician
nearest you.

More general requests for information can, of course, continue to be posted
on LACTNET for mutliple responses from lots of different people.

PS Any phyisicans who have not YET contacted me and who are willing to be
contacted for questions specific to their specialty area should get in
touch with me privately. Many thanks.

brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
