Attached is my powerpoint lecture on breastfeeding and bilirubin.
Breastfeeding is the norm.
Formula-fed infants DO have too little bilirubin.
Bilirubin values depend on genetics with "yellow-skinned" races normally
having higher levels in their infants.
A very high bilirubin for even a short period of time causes severe brain
damage - that is why physicians are so frightened of jaundiced infants.
