Hi Lactnetters,

I am coming out of lurkdom to post a call for help. Am
also following the threads on allergies with interest.
A mom I know is nursing her third child who is
apparently allergic to mother's milk. Allergy
manifested itself from birth.

Mom stopped all her dairy intake (milk, cheese,
pizza, cake etc), nut etc , and drinks only soy milk.
But the baby's allergy continued. Paed recommended
Enfamil Nutrimigen. Meanwhile, she pumped & stored up
her milk.

Just a few weeks ago, she tried bfg again. According
to her, the reaction was immediate, she could see his
face turn patchy red while sucking.

His allergic reactions include rash on his face, eyes
got swollen and watery and spit up started. The baby
is about 5 months now.

Mom is extremely motivated to continue nursing and is
upset that she may not continue to do so because of
her baby's allergies. Strangely, she had breastfed her
two older children with no problems.

She does not know of any LC/IBCLC in Rochester NY. If
there is any LC in the vicinity, could you pte email
me so I can fwd yr contact details to her?

Thanks very much.
