Jayne,

I would guess the drop in supply for this mom is likely due to early
introduction of solids and baby's infrequent nursing and short duration. I'd suggest
a nursing holiday with mom carrying baby in sling, skin contact (have mom
leave her breasts bare so baby can nurse ad lib and be encouraged to do so), and
to try More Milk Plus and maybe Motherlove's goat's rue as well for 2-3 days
while ordering domperidone in the meantime. She may not need the domperidone so
a small amount could be compounded just in case it is needed. For those
days, just breast would be helpful unless baby is really hungry and needs solids;
solids would be better than formula though.

Maybe mom didn't notice that baby is more distractable too but the 2 mos of
solids probably had the biggest influence and 3 minutes of nursing every 2-3 hr
probably down regulated her supply. I find it's the mom's who can tell you
how many times a day their baby nurses who often run into supply issues down
the road; those who can't (nor even consider counting) tell you how many times
a day baby nurses because it's so frequent and second nature to offer the
breast, don't seem to experience supply issues.
