I have known about Lactnet for a few months now, but have only recently
been 'on the net' and been able to read lactnet for myself. I am a medical
practitioner (19yrs), a NMAA Counsellor (13yrs) and an IBCLC (since
1990)living in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.I have
four children, Jenny(16) David (14), Megan (13) and Alice (9). At present I
work part-time for a Government funded breast screening service, and the
local Family Planning Clinic. I also do some volunteer breastfeeding
counselling, and have the occasional LC consultation.

In reply to the queerie from Jill Meltzer Tue, 7 May 1996 about the mother
about to deliver with either psoriasis or eczema on her nipples. My sister
had a history of eczema on her nipples before the birth of her first baby.
The eczema then flared, and became quite bad. Her dermatologist prescribed
bathing her nipples in a week solution of potassium permanganate (condy's
crystals), and applying a medium strength steroid cream. The ezcema
settled, she continued to breastfeed, and had no problems with her two
further lactations.
