In the Feb. issue of a magazine called Consultant (for doctors and other
medical personnel) there is a nice article on promoting breastfeeding. Some
of the items that are mentioned are having doctors offer prenatal and
postnatal breastfeeding education, adding lactation basics, breastfeeding
counseling and lactation management in professional school curricula,
workplace and family breastfeeding support.

They do have a web site but you need a medical number to get on it. I wonder
if an IBCLC # would get you on this site? The magazine has really neat
pictures of different skin problems.

My mom gave me my baby book and I was looking at the pediatrician notes
(1960s). Mom informed me that she nursed her children on demand and never did
listen much to the doctor. The breastfeeding information given to my mother
was just as goofy then as some of the info. doctors give to new moms today.

I am thrilled at the doctors that promote breastfeeding and hope this article
will help others.
