Breast pumps and flange size. White river also used to have a large flange
which worked well for women with large breasts and nipples. The diameter of
the inner flange is larger. I''ve worked with a few women with large
pendulous breast and of course flat nipples who where unable to get the
breast into the Medela flange (pumping for latch on problems). When the
flange was to small the pump pulled the nipple against the inner flange
causing it to swell. (it wouldn't fit inside.) The white river flange did
work. Unfortunately the last time I contacted the company they stop making
them because they were not a high demand item. I have been able for them to
dig some up from old stock and mail them to me free. Once I did have one
women who's areola and nipple were so large they wouldn't fit into the large
white river flange either. Anyone else have this same experience?
