It's American business practice. Sharing mailing lists and
soliciting contact info. in stores etc. is not new and, while
we may not like it, that's how business operates.
I think the problem of doctors sharing their info with formula
companies is a much more serious ethical violation. It also seems
to me that the medical community is talking out of both sides of its
mouth. On the one hand they are very upset that pharmeceutical
companies are advertising to the public (remember when they were
bent out of shape at forumula companies doing the same thing?)
and yet they are giving their patients names to formula companies.
I think Judy Ritchie's suggestion about HIPPA is worth looking into.
It is a breach of confidence and if my doctor did it, I'd be livid!
