Norma Ritter,
Yes, Enfamil is bovine based formula. However, the trade name is
Enfamil and now it is in large letters on both the bovine based and soy
based formula, Prosobie. And I think the Lacto-free formula, which still
has the protein but not lactose.

In your posting of 9/1/00 "The majority of adults in the world are
lactose-intolerant and would be
made sick (nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, gas, painful abdominal cramps)
from drinking formula, or cow's milk."
I agree. I'm one who has these symptoms, but I'm protein intolerant
also. The Lactase doesn't help me. Last January I decided to try to
wean myself off bovine products. I'm also working on beef. Started that
when I heard about mad cow. Fish with omega-3 fatty acids has come back
into my life. I also started using Edensoy (organic) as my milk. This
has definitely taken away the 'hot flashes.' They come back when I'm soy
free. I still 'forget' and sprinkle a little Parmesan on my caesar
salad. Unfortunately, the painful gas & diarrhea back.

Those moms who drink formula could be using the soy or lacto-free
types. There would be no benefit with Lacto-free if it is indeed the
bovine protein that they're intolerant of.
