LC supports her efforts and gives info on safely drying up when the

Shouldn't this "Official" have in mind the best health interests of Mom and
baby, not (perhaps) the interests of the grandfather? A truly resourceful
Official might take the opportunity to ask the Mom if she would want to
continue providing EBM for this infant after the adoption or at least thank
her for the concern she has shown. What a sense of power this Mom might
feel over making these decisions, knowing that she has truly done her best
for her baby. Kudos to her for doing the right thing!!! Isn't the LC
really doing her job as a HCP and helping this mother follow the recs of the
AAP? Kudos to her, too!

An adoptive Mom I worked with last year said the foreign home from which her
baby came had a policy that the birth mothers breastfeed their infants for a
few months before the child is sent to his new family. This child also went
right to breast for the adoptive Mom.
